Digital Transformation in Africa
Africa is the youngest and fastest-growing continent in the world yet falls behind in digitization. According to the United Nations, young adults below 35 make up 75% of Africa's population. By 2030, Young Africans will constitute up to 42% of the world's youth population, making them a global, untapped asset. Young women tend to be more disadvantaged than young men in access to work; they experience worse working conditions, and for them, informal employment is the norm. Women’s equality and empowerment are integral to all dimensions of inclusive and sustainable development.
Pan-African Tech Foundation is creating a technology Bootcamp series that focuses on digitalization in Africa that will be implemented across all regions in Africa. Our solution encompasses micro (community and private sector) and macro (public sector) approaches to transform and drive an African renaissance through technology. Emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, data science, and machine learning are critical technologies in our solution. Through training programs conducted at our North, East, West, Central, and Southern sub-regional hubs and growing country representations, we will reach the youth in all 54 countries in Africa.
Funding of Bootcamps allows us to continue valuable work that brings Africa forward in the global economy. This means PATF can create an African Renaissance that enables the youth to redefine who they are on their own terms and re-imagine the future they can have in a prosperous and thriving Africa.
