Bunnies-R-Us was started by Diane Dykema.

Diane has always been an animal person from having a horse to dogs, cats, and BUNNIES!

She has always been the type of person to have her own business and work for herself. She has always had that drive to make money doing something that she loves doing.

After her cat passed away, she eventually missed the feeling of having a furry companion and she used to have bunnies as a kid, she decided to get a bunny or two.

Long story short, she ended up having baby bunnies and that made her educate herself more on bunnies, the breeds, the health issues, anything that came with bunnies! she started off as a breeder until more and more people would come to her about a bunny they can no longer take care of or bunnies that were abandoned and found on the street and she came to the realization that breeding isn't something she should be doing or wants to be doing because there are so many bunnies that need a home whether its their first or a new one! She wanted to be part of the solution not the problem!

As her business becomes more and more popular taking in and rehoming more than 500 bunnies from her own home, it is getting to the point she's getting more and more bunnies and having less and less room for them. Luckily as of now she is rehoming them almost as quick as she gets them but it is getting very close to being at full capacity to where she might have to stop taking them in, which would be devastating because she would never want to turn down a bunny in need because she doesn't have any more room.

Her business is very successful but 90% of her income goes to the bunnies and taking care of them, getting their veggies, food, pellets, cages, litter, litter pans, ETC. or for health reasons like, care for injured bunnies, spay/neuters, ETC. She does have donations people can make but again, that goes to the bunnies health and wellbeing, or their food and cages so much so that she barely has money to renovate and expand.

Trouble strikes the Dykema family. Diane's husband Russ was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate cancer. On the path to remission you can take a guess on how much that can cost and the time that goes into healing. So not only does she have to take care of her husband she also still has her responsibilities as a full time business owner. She is the only source of income that they have right now since Russ is not able to work while on the road to recovery.

She has had her daughter Tarryn and her best friend Jenna come work with her and help out with the rescue and also take care of Russ when Diane needs to attend to her business. It has helped her a lot with taking care of the bunnies.

Unfortunately, that still leaves one problem. She still is struggling to have space for the bunnies.

Since her business is ran out of her own basement, she prefers to stay there because it is convenient for her to have the bunnies 24/7 care, and also the ability to run upstairs if her husband needs something.

So with you getting to know a little of Diane's back story, we (Tarryn and Jenna) would like to raise some money to be able to possibly renovate her entire basement or just ger her new supplies to better take care of the bunnies in her care. She has a pretty big basement however there are a lot of walls that are in the way and probably would need to be knocked down to make the space more open and accessible and so much more that could help so much.
