Restore Her Sight

My beautiful wife Diana has been caught in the mire of the medical system since 2003. It has depleted any financial means to take care of her, leaving her with sub standard Insurance with a deductible so high it pays little or nothing to help. Due to an aggressive growth of cataracts she requires surgery on both eyes to remove
the growth  and lens implants installed in both eyes. Having moved to Washington State to join a like- minded group of mental health therapist and open a 
 private practice her finances are on thin ice. I have been
supporting her as much as I can but my business, home and bills are in Buffalo N.Y. and my accounts are dried 
 up.  Without this surgery Diana will soon be blind.
I am humbly and graciously asking for all good people to help reach our goal.  Let us restore her sight.

Diana's Long Journey...

  Diana"s health issues began with bariatric surgery in 2003. Though the procedure had minimal positive effect, it left her between life and death for 2.5 months with a staff infection lodged behind her liver, a leak from her stomach taking weeks to heal and the inability to metabolize vitamins through normal dietary means. A life sentence of expensive perscription supplements and
injectons not covered by insurance.
  Shortly thereafter residual health problems would arise . Often there were emergency runs and overnight stays at the hospital, taking care of bacterial infections,
 transfusions for anemia, kidney stones and heart arrhythmia. A few years later more surgery requiring a total hysterectomy and the removal of her gall bladder. With the multiple recovery times and the loss of income our finances began to take a dive.
 By 2011 Diana began showing signs of numbness in her legs, loss of balance and uncontrolled falling. Painful nerve blocks and physical therapy became the prescription to help, but to no avail, eventually walking would require a cane. With a referral to Dr. Hamil head of orthopedic surgery at Kalieda Health in Buffalo N.Y. Diana was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis. Preforming surgery vertebra from the
tailbone to L4 were opened, titanium bars installed and 
a wire mesh wraped around the column. The recovery
 was a hard 6 months with 4 weeks in a rehab facility.
With only 187.00 dollars a week coming in for disability  we lived on one income.Though money was short we were grateful. With each day Diana was getting 
 stronger and though painful at first she was able to walk without a cane looking forward to resuming her life. Finally released by her doctors She returned to work and was excited to restart her role as a therapist and mentor.
Six weeks later Diana was rear ended  in an auto accident . It was late August 2012. The emergency doctors would misdiagnose her and send her home. As weeks went by all the old symptoms would return. Finally in February of 2013  Dr. Hamil would inform her that the accident had destroyed the original work along with herniating two more vertebra.
Surgery was scheduled in June and the whole process started over again. Opiates for pain, then get off pain meds, walk with a walker, then a cane then walk again. By the end of recovery another year had passed. Dr. Hamil  recommended a friend who handled injury law who was instrumental in getting Diana a settlement for
 the accident.  By the time she received the money, most of it would pay the medical bills, household bills and maxed out credit cards that kept things going.
In 2014 the company she worked for was sold to another. Having downsized, an offer of a cut in salary
 and a larger case load  left her with  limited options . With the last of her settlement Diana opened her own
 private practice and once again tried to start over. Though tired things began to pick up. Having a beautiful
office, an expanding client base and rental space filled
 she was excited and confident the this was the right decision. Even the long walks to the office through the
converted  industrial building seemed surmountable and life was good.
  Unfortunately life is not always a calm breeze. Sometimes its a cold hard wind and other times a tempest. For Diana this pattern would repeat again and
 by 2015 she would be attacked by a  skin aliment that
 would eat through the upper layers of skin exposing nerve endings and leaving her in excruciating pain.
 The sores spread from her legs to her  stomach, back and arms. Though never truly diagnosed by physicisns 
 and dermatologists, the condition seemed to be linked with a vitamin deficiency. After six months of bed rest
 and vitamin e skin treatments the sores. ( varying in
 size from 1 to 3 inches in diameter) had receded and she resumed work.
  A good year in 2016 would bring another back surgery in 2017. Residual damage from the accident,  had reared its  head and the pattern of  pain and recovery  began again. With little money left in savings and horrible health insurance  Diana and I would have to assume the cost  for a major portion of the medical bills.  We sold 
a family house bought years ago to take care of it. The little cash left Diana would keep. She had a decision
 to make.
  Unable to walk the long halls to her office without pain and realizing that the cold enviroment of Buffalo would
 only make her arthritis, back pain and walking a never
 ending struggle, Diana closed her office. Packing up her Rav 4  with the bare essentials,  on Feb. 15. 2017 I
drove her 2600 miles to Washington State. Living in a moderate climate with the natural beauty of the bay and mountains would revive her soul. Her new job
 opportunity would keep her engaged. Since both of us
 were financially broken from the years of health issues
Diana would buy a health insurance plan that she could afford but covers very little and sparingly live off the cash she had until her work situation picked up.
   Two months after arriving  Diana was diagnosed
with cataracts of both eyes.  An eye exam to see if she needed new glasses now was a case of surgery or go blind within the year. With all the other health issues
 over the years her eyes had been less a priority. Yes she wore glasses and had kept up with exams but with
everything else , little money, surgical recovery, moving and resettling her headaches, sensitivity to light and eye pain were neglected. She said" I will take care of it when I get there. I just need stronger glasses."
Now she is faced with 8400.00 dollars for surgery an not a cent of it covered by insurance. With very little money left to live on and her new practice just beginning
 to pick up a sporadic few clients Diana needs help as she cannot afford these cost, Any donations recieved
 would  be used for her surgery and recovery.
 Diana is a Veteran and has provided clinical therapy for veterans, first line responders, fire and police for over
 twenty years. She was activated by the Red Cross and responded to 911 in N.Y. city to provide therapy to 
 those who lost so much. As a therapist she's  given so much  to clients in financial need asking nothing in return. Now is her time of need.  Her surgery must be done between the middle of February to March, as each
 eye is done separately.
 As her Husband I feel terrible to ask for help. It should be my mission to take care of this. In the army we used to say, " Drive On." but there is little drive left. This battle has been to long. Diana needs your help.
I am leaving this in God's hands and hope in someway generous hearts can respond to this heartfelt plea to
 help my  beloved wife Diana.
