I’m raising funds for an incredible young man named Derrickson, whose resilience and determination inspire everyone around him. Originally from Ghana, Derrickson faced unimaginable tragedy when his parents were murdered, forcing him to flee his home in search of safety and a better future in 2022. After a harrowing journey of 2 months by boat, plane, and foot he arrived at a shelter in Fairfield, California. From there he found support through Covenant House California, in Oakland a shelter for transitional age young adults.

Despite the challenges he has faced, Derrickson embodies positivity and perseverance. He was able to obtain his high school diploma knowing the importance that an education can have on ones future. He recently achieved a huge milestone, securing his very first apartment! Now, he’s working full-time as a security guard while pursuing his dream of becoming a Physical Therapist for soccer players.

I’m raising funds to help furnish his new home and support his education as he takes the next steps toward building a stable, successful future. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference, and even a simple share can go a long way.
