Help Denyce get her PET scan

Donation protected
Let me introduce you to my friend Denyce. This picture represents beauty, strength, courage, inspiration, love, power, a mother, a sister,  a daughter, an aunt, a fighter, and so much more! She is a cancer survivor. Denyce is in dire need of a PET scan. I have known this woman for  a short 4 years or so. In this time I have learned what an amazing human being that she is. She is one to help anyone in the time of need even during her own struggles. She is willing to donate her time and energy to any good cause. Seriously, she has a huge heart. Denyce is a worker!! This woman tends kiddos in the day including her own young ones and works late hours. I honestly do not know where she gets her strength and energy. In her down time she is a very active and present mother to her children. I don't think that she ever stops! I have so much love and respect for her and I know that if you were in her shoes that she would give what she could to help. Please take a minute to hear her story and understand why I am reaching out for help. Every little bit helps! I know for a fact that she will give back and return this good deed in some way, shape or form. Thank you for listening to me now please hear her story.

Hello! I'm a mom to 4 amazing kiddos and 3 "bonus boys" big family!

In Nov 2017 (13 years after my dad passed away from cancer.) I had a diagnostic mammogram done because I found a couple lumps. I actually had found them months before but was in the middle of a very hectic summer. It wasn't until October that I asked my mom to "feel this lump". The process of trying to get help from my Dr. to get a referral letter for a diagnostic mammogram because I wasn't 40 was not an easy thing to do especially because I didn't have insurance. November 29th 2017 was a whirlwind of a day. I went in for a mammogram hoping to hear "it's just a cyst", but 15 min after the mammogram they immediately did an ultrasound not liking what they saw. They said I'll need a biopsy ASAP, so on December 4th (day after my birthday) I had it done. It was terrible, it was painful. They said we'll either call you or have you come in.

On Dec 5th I got a call. I was nervous about answering and glad it was a call, BUT, they said you need to come in.

I went in, and had a case worker sit next to me, and grab some tissues. OH SHIT!! My friend Kay was with me. The radiologist came in, shut the door and said The words "IT'S CANCER!!"

Ughhhhh!!!!!! Well, at this time I was stuck. I had no insurance and trying to get assistance for Medicaid was a joke. I finally got approved March 1st 2018 and 6 days later had a bilateral mastectomy with expanders.

It wasn't until after the surgery that I got the full diagnosis Stage 3 grade B. Not great, but not terrible.

I made the choice to wait for chemo since my oldest and my only daughter would be graduating high school. I wasn't going to miss that or be bald and sick.

I started chemo one week into June. Ten freaking rounds of it! Side effects and all, not just hair loss and sick. But fatigue, rashes, extreme bone pain, & hot flashes. But I made it! And then 33 rounds of radiation, that burned me. Well, here I am a year later with bone pain and now I've found a lump on my leg! Once again no insurance. The PET scan is $1550 and I'm not sure the cost for the radiologist to read it. My oncologist said "TYPICALLY" Breast cancer doesn't spread to lower parts of the body. But, if it's cancer, I get to play the game all over again. If it's breast cancer it's curable, if it's bone it's not.

I do not have the money to get a PET scan and time is of the essence. I don't want to wait until it's too late. Please help if you can. THANK YOU!!
