My name is Rochelle Grant. On July 6, 2026, my beautiful daughter, Dejianna Lane, was shot in the head and suffered a devastating brain injury. She was supposed to be celebrating earning her master’s degree in 2026 as she worked toward her dream of becoming a doctor. Instead, she is now fighting for her life. As her mother, I have been by her side every day while fighting in court to protect her right to receive a second medical opinion and be transferred to another facility.

 Since then, I have witnessed encouraging changes, including increasing movement in her limbs, giving our family hope that she deserves every opportunity to continue fighting. Since my legal battle began, I have personally observed that doctors no longer come into her room during rounds to evaluate her, making it even more important for me to seek an independent medical evaluation.
