I feel so uncomfortable doing this, but I've had several friends suggest it, so here it goes. Our girl Deja Vu gets excited when we come home. She's a jumper, and this time, Saturday night, she jumped up and landed wrong.
We rushed her to an overnight animal hospital and were there until 6 am the next day. The X-rays showed that she broke her leg, and there was an additional fracture. We have an upcoming phone consultation with a surgeon, with us choosing one of two options to repair and save her leg. We were given a very rough estimate of between 7,000 and 8,000 dollars. We've already paid close to 1,300 for the visit Saturday night and this phone call coming up. It was not a great Mother's Day by any means, but I'm grateful for all that we do have, so we're trying to stay positive.
After the surgery, we need to have her bandages and splints changed weekly for 14-16 weeks. The estimate of that is from 80-150 dollars per visit, depending on whether they’d need to sedate her or not. We’re trying to get this set up with our local vet because I know they wouldn’t charge as much for this.
We just want our girl to be better. We've had an... interesting couple of years with our other girl Pollyanna and her diabetes. We love them both and just want them to feel happy, healthy, and safe.
If you're reading this and would be so kind as to share an amount of money you're comfortable with, we would be forever grateful. I promise to return the kindness whenever possible. I'll never forget it. I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
Update: We’ve borrowed against a loan to help with her surgery, that was done today. I’ve lowered the amount because anything else can help with the extensive after care. I’m adding the two x-rays of the work that was done as a result of her surgery. Thank you for your kindness.
