Help Debbie Save Her 34-Year Family Home

Hello, my name is Debbie Cote. In October 1991, I bought my dream home. Over the years, it has become a cherished homestead I have created and shared. It is in a magical neighborhood where I single-handedly raised my two children, and I strived to keep this as their home. Our family has so many wonderful memories here, and my children still call it home; it is the only home they have ever known.

It is a home I have shared with so many. I always opened my heart and my home to friends far and wide. I have had businessmen, business partners, musicians, and so many others stay as my guests. My home is a source for Inspiring Healthy Living with home events, including Salad parties welcoming all and teaching others how to make healthy bread with my Love Your Gut classes.

But on May 15, 2025, I came home to the smell of the sewer permeating my home. I thought it was my dog and cleaned everything! The smell persisted. I called my plumber, and he recommended a smoke test. A crack in my bath and 10 feet down the center of my home in my sewer is the issue.

Unfortunately, since changes in my life, I cannot get a loan. I have tried for so many. I consulted my insurance, and the cracks are not covered. I consulted my mortgage, and they will not give me a loan on my equity where I have lived for 34 years! A friend suggested I apply for grants. I applied through the City of Phoenix, and they denied me.

I weighed the most economical repair with seven companies! I am saving every dime, cutting on groceries and every other expense to save my home to come up with cash. The repair cost is hefty, and I don't know where I can get the money to get rid of the smell before the pipe collapses. I have prayed to GOD and as I lay in bed heard, "Reach out to your friends!" I have even applied for a hardship with my mortgage, and I pray I do not lose my home of 34 years!

A dear friend asked me to start a GoFundMe. Another friend asked me to start one that she and her husband can share. I ask that if you cannot give, I would be blessed if you could just share it! I would appreciate this greatly!

The repair is $18,400.
