I made this campaign to help one of my biggest heros and beloved father figure--my stepfather, Dean Devito. He is a loving husband, father of two, stepfather of three and grandfather of five. A beloved friend to many, he's man who would always makes you smile and was the life of the party no matter where he goes.
But those days are gone. And his smiley, happy-go-lucky personality has been crushed from his battle with cancer.
He's now fighting for his life from Leukemia, after a recent bone marrow transplant failed.
Currently, my stepfather has been in in the hospital for over a month battling pneumonia, e coli and a fungal infection--simply because the cancer has killed his immune system.
I am asking for a simple favor: your support.
My mother, Linda Todaro Devito, has been the sole caretaker for Dean these past three years and has resorted to going on unpaid medical leave to be at his side in the hospital--something selfless and truly inspirational.
But with that comes a price---struggling to finance everyday necessities with no current income.
We pray every day that a miracle will happen, and his third attempt of chemo will break the spell of this horrific disease.
Three years ago Dean was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) which is a pre-stage of leukemia. His blood cannot produce proper platelets and red blood cells, which is fatal. for two years he underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant for treatment--but the transplant failed and his cancer is back as an aggressive Leukemia, that has severely crippled his state of health, with his life hanging in the balance.
I created this account to help raise money for his medical expenses so he can get the best treatment possible for a speedy recovery and to help offset his and my mother's loss of income that they depend on. All donations are greatly appreciated whether they are big or small. Anything helps!
