Help Dawn with Hospital And other Bills
I’ve started this GoFundMe page to try and help my mom, Sharon Dawn Middleton, with the many bills and expenses that are piling up as she deals with the passing of her husband, Robert ‘Rob’ Middleton.
For those who don’t know, Mom met Rob, the rascally ‘Dick Darby’ at King Richard’s Faire in the 80’s and they hit it off rather quickly. (When they married, I inherited an awesome family.) They performed live music together all over Wisconsin and Illinois, and became quite the singing set for many years.
Life got tougher as it often does, and they both had a run of serious medical challenges. Mom had a brain aneurysm that put her in intensive care for several weeks. Rob spent every available minute with her, helping her through a very rough time. Then Rob started having complications with diabetes, a degenerative spinal issue, and had to have heart bypass surgery.
Mom was also diagnosed with atrial fibrillation during this time, a heart condition that has required two ablation procedures, (she is still dealing with this issue.)
Rob’s health continued to decline. He needed to be hospitalized, having half his foot amputated due to diabetes, then was moved to long-term care for over a year. In the last few months, Rob took a serious downturn, and passed away Dec. 24th 2019.
Even with insurance, the copays and outstanding medical bills for them have stacked up. Mom estimates she still owes about $20,000. If that weren’t enough, paperwork complications in the first few weeks after Rob’s death caused the bank account to be frozen and Rob’s pension to be held for up to six months. As you can imagine, this is putting a serious financial strain on mom, to the point that even paying rent is going to be difficult.
I’m hoping that this GoFundMe will allow mom time to get things in order, help pay the bills, and allow her to keep the apartment she and Rob have lived in for so many years while she gets through this tough time. If you would like to help in any capacity, or could share this page, it would be greatly appreciated!
