Hello, my little chihuahua mix, Captain Kirk is having a rough time. She is 13 years old and her back has been giving her problems for a while now. This last week her back has gotten really bad. My dog has been crying and howling in pain. I took her to the vet on Tuesday and I was trying to keep the cost down so I left with pain killers and hoped it would help. This morning she was howling in pain so I took her back to the vet. I had to take out a care credit card to cover the x-rays, blood work and new medication. Steroids and an inflammatory. I know she is going to need surgery. She is really hurting. I am reaching out once again to my great network of friends and anybody else out there to help me cover the costs. I rescued her from the East Valley shelter in Van Nuys when she was 4. Her name was Sparkle at the shelter but she never answered to it so I renamed her Captain Kirk. My dog and Coke Classic are the only things that make me truly happy right now at this point in my life. I am sticking close to Kirk and grinding up her medicine in some chicken so she’ll eat it. My dog and I are eternally grateful for any help and spiritual thoughts you can send our way.
