<div>My name is Jack Kruse, and I'm raising funds to help my lifelong friend David Chesterman. Dave has been a friend since we attended Stevenson Elementary, then Cherry Crest Elementary School. We were teammates in Bellevue (WA) Boys Club 'Bears' Football, at Hyak Junior High (including wrestling and football), and at Interlake High School (including wrestling).

<div>As a toddler, David lost his mother to cancer - he never knew his birth mother. Dave was raised by U.S. Air Force Captain Eula Nell Chesterman, a loving stepmother who stepped into his life after meeting and marrying his father, U.S. Air Force Colonel Charles Chesterman.

<div>For decades, David worked during the daytime as a self-employed Carpenter, building many home improvement projects, including decks and interiors.

<div>Unfortunately, Dave's battle with cancer has severely limited his ability to undertake the physical nature of his work (doing carpentry and interior projects), resulting in a significant loss of income.

<div>Recording and performing
</div>
<div>Over the last forty-five years, David's recording credits are too numerous to mention here - but undoubtedly, the most recognizable act he has worked with is Rail.

<div>As a professional drummer since the early 1980's, Dave's first band was Soldier. David has also played with Who Found Who, Daddy Long Legs, No Mas, Jackie Rome, DeDDBolt, The Shortcuts, The Susie Garcia Orchestra, Mimeograf, Rival of Kings, Fusion Eyes, and Trike, among others.

<div>Dave's credits on Rail's 'Big World' recording include the opening track, Call My Name, Need Your Lovin' (Track 2), and Don't Run Away (Track 7).

<div>As one might imagine, David's ability to continue drumming regularly has been compromised over the last five years that he has been battling cancer.
</div>

<div>Cancer
</div>
<div>Over the last five years, Dave has been dealing with two types of cancer, including Stage 3 Rectal Cancer. Through the combined services of Fred Hutchinson and EvergreenHealth in Kirkland, David has an excellent medical team, but his continuing care will require ongoing monitoring and surveillance. This is especially relevant since Dave lost his mother to cancer when he was a toddler, so the medical team wants to remain diligent in regards to David's cancer, because of his family history. Fortunately, Dave's health insurance has covered most of his medical bills, but he has been unable to replace his significant loss of income (due to his inability to undertake the physical nature of his work). This has led to a challenge in covering his monthly living costs, including the sometimes regular commute to EvergreenHealth Hospital in Kirkland from Lake Stevens, Washington.
