<div>My name is <strong>David Henry</strong>, and this is my wife, <strong>Nadine</strong>.

<div>I’m an ordained minister and CDL truck driver who’s always believed the work I do on the road is part of my calling in life. I've been Trucking for Jesus. I’ve tried to bring faith, encouragement, and a steady hand wherever the road leads to whomever I meet.

<div><strong>My background as a volunteer</strong>
</div>

<div>I first learned what it meant to serve in hard times as a volunteer minister at Ground Zero after 9/11, spending several days on the pile helping first responders and survivors. The exposure later left me with emphysema, but I never regretted being there. That experience taught me to serve because it’s the right thing to do for others and not about what you get in return. Since I wasn't licensed I never received any help from the 9/11 Victims Fund or WTC Health Lines.

<div><strong>What life has been like for us</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>For the past few years, I’ve proudly driven big rigs, keeping freight and people moving safely. After more than three years of semi-steady work, I was about to start a long-term stable position with full health benefits, not a dream job but a job that could help me get back on my feet. Then suddenly, everything changed overnight.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>What happened</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>On <strong>September 25th, 2025</strong>, while driving a rental semi-truck, the driver’s seat suddenly collapsed beneath me. The impact damaged my neck and spine, leaving me with multiple herniated discs, 14 pinched nerves, and severe spinal stenosis compressing my spinal cord. Since that moment, I’ve been fighting to stand, walk, and regain my independence. I’m now living with symptoms that are a copy of <strong>C5-C6 incomplete tetraplegia</strong>, <strong>meaning partial paralysis affecting all four limbs and my torso</strong>. Thankfully there was no severe or break but I'm in a ver serious situation with my neck where a small amount of pressure of less than 4lbs could cut my spinal cord. I still have limited movement, but I need to learn how to gain strength, walk and use my body again.

<div><strong>How it unfolded</strong>

<div>Initially I went to a first ER and presented with the same symptoms. They took a spine x-ray and even though I collapsed twice on the floor they sent me home with a 2-day work excuse and told me to take an aspirin and return to work on Monday. When Monday arrived, I was in much worse condition. I had to call 911 and was taken to a different ER, UTMB Victory Lakes.

<div>I was treated at the ER for pneumonia which developed from shallow breathing. They treated me as an outpatient as I showed strong signs of improvement, but the doctor was asking some weird questions that I was too embarrassed to answer at the time about my bladder and bowels.

<div>He told me to go home and relax but if anything started to worsen to get myself back to the ER immediately. About 12 hours later, the worst hit me like a sack of bricks. When I became weaker, I called 911 for an ambulance and returned to the ER for the second time and they ran an MRI to find out what was happening to me.

<div><strong>Things took a turn for the worse</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Doctors ran a full spinal MRI that took over an hour and a half, scanning every inch of my neck and back to understand the damage. That moment made everything real, and this wasn’t just pain anymore, it was a life-changing injury.</strong>

<div><strong>What's happening now</strong>

<div>I’m currently trying to get into physical therapy and under neurosurgical review to see if surgery can relieve the pressure on my spine and prevent further nerve damage. My faith hasn’t failed me, but the physical and financial road ahead is long.
</div>

<div>My wife, Nadine, is hearing-impaired and physically disabled, unable to work. We’ve always been the ones helping others. We've never asked for help from others. This is the first time we’ve ever had to ask for help ourselves.
</div>

<div><strong>What we need help with</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>We currently live in an aging RV that’s barely survived three hurricanes including a direct hit from Hurricane Beryl. Living in an RV in Texas means there’s little support, protection, or help from the government during natural disasters; we’ve learned that the hard way! The RV is no longer safe or accessible for wheelchairs. We need to find and secure a clean, ADA-compliant place to heal and continue my therapy and recovery. We own the land. All we need now is a safe, accessible home where Nadine and I can live safely and I can continue my recovery.
