Over the last three years, I have been on dialysis due to kidney failure—a journey that has tested my strength and resilience every single day. Recently, I received the news that I am now on the transplant list, and my time for a new kidney has finally arrived. This brings hope for a healthier future, but also new challenges as I prepare for a lengthy hospital stay and recovery period.

After the transplant occurs, we have to stay in a "hospital hotel" on campus for approximately two months to be available for daily check-ups. <div>Throughout this journey, my greatest motivation has been my family. I have four wonderful kids and two grandchildren, and my biggest wish is to be there for them as they grow up. The thought of being able to spend more time with them, and to continue mentoring the young people in my neighborhood and community, keeps me going even on the toughest days. I know I have so much more life and love to give, and I am determined to make the most of this second chance.
