Help Dave Walk Again – Support My Emotional Support Dog's Surgery
Hi, my name is Paul, and I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my beloved emotional support dog, Dave.
Dave came into my life when I was struggling with Chronic CPTSD. He was taken from his mother far too young — just 5 weeks old — and passed through two foster homes before we found each other. From the moment he came into my life, he's been my grounding force, helping me through panic attacks, isolation, and the emotional waves of complex trauma.
Despite his rough start, Dave has grown into the most loving, loyal companion. I’ve done everything I can to support his health — feeding him a carefully curated diet, taking him regularly to hydrotherapy sessions, and monitoring every step of his growth and wellbeing.
The Challenge
Sadly, Dave has now been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and a cruciate ligament issue. He needs urgent surgery to regain proper mobility and live a pain-free life.
We initially sought help through insurance with ManyPets, but after a heartbreaking five-month wait, they declined the claim. They said an earlier sprain was a "pre-existing indicator" of hip dysplasia — something no vet warned us about at the time. In those five months, I used up my limited resources on hydrotherapy and rehab, believing we were covered.
Now, I'm out of funds. And Dave is still in pain.
What We Need
We’re aiming to raise £18,000 to cover:
• Cruciate ligament and hip dysplasia surgery on both hips
• Post-operative care and rehabilitation
• Continued hydrotherapy sessions
• Pain management and mobility support
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly to Dave’s veterinary care and rhabilitaion. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page — every bit of visibility helps.
Dave is not just a pet — he's my therapy, my lifeline, and my reason to keep going. Please help me give him the chance to run and play again without pain.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
