Help Dave Calhoun Rebuild from Irma

Donation protected
David Calhoun is a selfless father of five who has given so much to so many.  He works consistently to provide for his children's well being and education and has always put himself last.  This year he finally had his hip replaced as it was a necessity to continue his third decade of physical labor as a currier for Federal Express.

As the oldest of five children and his step-daughter, I can vouch for Dave's selflessness!  I remember 1992, when hurricane Andrew devastated South Eastern FL and Dave took time away from work and home to help assist with relief efforts in Homestead.  I also remember the time he came home from work with no shirt on because he saved a young girl's life who had experienced a massive car accident in front of his station and used his shirt to tie a tourniquet.  Dave consistently volunteers to help people and animals.  Taking in strays of all kinds and offering his time feeding those in need and consistently volunteering at school functions.

As many are aware, Irma decided to make her nasty landfall as a Category 4 storm in Florida and parts of SW Florida and Naples were particularly hit hard.  In Golden Gate Estates, a low lying area inland, much of the streets have been flooded, many of the roads remain impassible and they are on day 5 of having no water, no electricity and no cell service.  Dave's home was unfortunately not spared and many large oak trees litter his lawn, driveway and yard, making the house hardly visible from the street, damaging his driveway and property.  The worst part is a large oak tree did fall on his roof creating a hole in his living room.  Of course Dave has insurance with USAA, however, due to the nature of his policy, his deductible is $20,000 +!

We are working with family and friends as well as acquaintances in the town to support Dave while he continues to support his company and community and works tirelessly through the weekend to deliver people's valuables and packages.

We currently have scheduled someone to assist in cutting away at the tree posing the most obvious and impending threat (scheduled for Sunday) and are looking for others to donate their time or resources so we may assist him to remove debris as soon as the water subsides. The funds raised here will go directly towards these efforts including, cleaning debris, repairing immediate prorperty damage, purchasing a new roof or funding the high insurance deductible for David.  Once internet and utlities are repaired, David will have direct access to the GoFundMe Campaign to withdrawl funds as needed.

Please help us help Dave!  This is going to be a long re-building process!

Thank you!
