About me
Hi, My name is Suyen L Bantawa. I am from Nepal and currently living in Melbourne, Australia. I am participating in the Landmark Self-Expression and Leadership Program and the part of the program is to choose a project that makes a difference in people’s life. “R U OK” day was an outcome of this same program.  


My project is to create empowerment for education in Nepal.

My country is backward since education was denied for a hundred years by the rulers. It is one of the underlying reasons for poverty.


I am committed to making difference in a people’s life by empowering them through education. My project, Funding Talent,  will identify talented people from disadvantaged families and give them an opportunity for education.  I am starting with Darshan who is my cousin, which will transform his life, give him an access to employment and empower others in his community.


About My Cousin
My cousin’s name is Darshan. Living in Nepal, he is an aspiring software developer. He wants to study interface and backend development, and when it comes to computers, his curiosity is endless. Although he never had the chance to attend college, he read all that he could and learned enough to earn a living creating websites and doing computer animations. Something of a nerd, he has displayed a supreme brilliance with regards to technology.


Darshan has not lived an easy life. Both of his parents are deceased, and his father was an alcoholic who never supported his family. It was only thanks to generous relatives that he and his three siblings made it past childhood. One of his siblings committed suicide shortly after turning 21, due in large part to the hopelessness of their situation.

Darshan, however, has remained positive and focused, and I would like to do whatever I can to help him.

What Darshan Needs

We are looking for friends and family in order to raise $30,000. These funds will pay for Darshan’s education in Australia, creating an opportunity for him to advance his life for his benefit and the benefit of his two surviving siblings. Because there are a lot of distractions, he needs to make this move. For the last two years, he has slept on an office table, passing through friends’ and relatives’ homes for shelter.

What This Money Would Mean

 If Darshan can get the education that he needs and earn his university degree with your support, he can turn his life around. I see in Darshan a ton of potential. If given the chance to do something with his life, he would certainly take it. I want him to know that there is love in the world; I want him to experience that love for himself. Your contribution will help to improve Darshan’s situation in a meaningful way.

The deadline for this project at end of this year and will be withdrawn.
