Darrell Bowie, 24, had the opportunity to play for ACS Cuza, a professional basketball team in Braila, Romania, along with a few other young men from the US. They were excited as they were preparing for the upcoming season. On Saturday, 9/15/2018, after a long day of training and practice, they did what young people are encouraged to do, explore the culture of different countries. Unfortunately, some of the locals decided to attack them and Darrell and another teammate were stabbed and had to be hospitalized. Darrell sustained stab wounds to his lower stomach and is"stable" and in intensive care.
We are raising funds to provide his family the ability to visit him and for Darrell to have proper rehabilitation once he arrives back to the US.
US officials are investigating the motives of the suspect, who is in police custody at this moment.
We will appreciate your help to reunite this young athlete with his family and to allow him time to fully recover and continue his promising career after this awful attack on his life.
