Help Darin Knock Out Cancer and Return to Flying!

Donation protected
My dear friend and coworker, Darin Wilson, has been in the fight of his life with prostate cancer since September of 2018. Before his diagnosis, he was enjoying his life as a flight attendant, a job he's had since July of 1989. He has hardly flown since his diagnosis, as he's been having treatment and surgeries since then.

On November 5th of 2018 he had his first surgery. They removed his prostate, the bottom part of his bladder, 5 lymph nodes, and some cartilage bone pieces. There were 6 incisions, so it was a very long and painful recovery. On November 26th, he found out that he still had cancer, and that it had spread to the edges of his pelvis region and surrounding areas, as well as other lymph nodes. He started hormone therapy, with radiation and chemotherapy soon to follow. He started suffering from intense hot flashes, fatigue, and nausea, but was still determined to get back to work. He was able to go back to work in March of 2019, but was off work again in May to have surgery for three hernias that he got as a result of prostate removal. In July of 2019, he was told he would need six more months of hormone therapy and chemotherapy, and seven or eight weeks of radiation five times a week because his numbers did not reflect zero, as they should. To make everything even worse, his mom also passed away in July.

In September 2019 he developed a staph infection from the hernia surgery. In October he finished one year of hormone therapy, chemotherapy, and radiation. He was once again hoping to return to flying, but he had to have another surgery on February 12th of this year on his abdominal wall that required eight weeks of recovery. He was supposed to return to work May 1st, but his immunity was too low and compromised. On June 4th he found out that his PSA number was elevated once again. On October 29th, he was told that the cancer has metastasized and is now stage 4. Cancer is now in the soft tissue of his pelvis, his lymph nodes, and his abdominal area. Doctors believe that chances of remission are extremely low and that his life expectancy is approximately 5 years. He started chemotherapy again on November 23rd, and will need treatment for the rest of his life.

Through all of this, he has remained hopeful, and refuses to give up. Anyone who knows Darin knows that he's a fighter, as well as a wonderful and loving person. He has not been able to work, so he was unable to get unemployment. His spouse just recently lost his job due to Covid-19 and the bills are piling up. This can happen to anyone, at any time. We all need help sometimes. Any donation you can give, no matter how small, will help him immensely. This has been a hard year on all of us. Let's help spread some cheer where we can. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
