<div>In de afgelopen 7 jaar werd ik steeds zieker en heeft het mijn leven veranderd. Eerst moest ik stoppen met sporten, nu ben niet meer in staat om aanhoudende lichamelijke en dagelijkse activiteiten uit te voeren. Vroeger deed ik aan powerlifting, maar nu kan ik geen lange wandeling maken. Als ik er even op uit wil met mijn vrienden of familie, dan moet ik in een rolstoel. Dit kan maar voor een paar uur in verband met verergering van lichamelijke klachten. Elke dag ervaar ik extreme vermoeidheid, veel pijn, spierzwakte en brainfog. Ik heb een lange nachtrust nodig, maar ik moet ook grote delen van de dag slapen.

<div>Ik heb in de afgelopen 7 jaar veel medische specialisten bezocht in de hoop erachter te komen wat er in mijn lichaam aan de hand was. Pas in april 2022 kreeg ik de diagnose ziekte van Lyme stadium 3. Dit was een moment van hoop en wanhoop. Wanhoop, want stadium 3 is het ernstigste stadium. Lyme zit in het zenuwstelsel, de longen, de hersenen en het hart. Maar het geeft ook hoop, omdat Lyme te behandelen is. De kosten voor de huidige behandeling bedraagt ongeveer €16.500. Daarom is deze pagina gemaakt, in de hoop dat het de kosten van deze dure behandeling kan verlichten. Het uiteindelijke doel is om naar een gespecialiseerde Lyme kliniek zoals in Duitsland te gaan, maar daarvan zijn de kosten boven de €40.000. Daarom worden alle kleine en grote donaties, deelacties en beterschapswensen zeer op prijs gesteld.

<div><strong>Will you help me fight Lyme disease?</strong>

<div>In the past 7 years my health has declined in such a way that it has changed my life. I have had to give up playing sports and now I am unable to do sustained physical and normal daily activities. I used to do powerlifting, but now I can't even go for long walks. If I want to go out for a bit with my friends or family, I have to use a wheelchair, which can only be for a couple of hours due to worsening symptoms. Every day I experience extreme exhaustion, pain, muscle weakness and brain fog. I need a long night's sleep, but also big parts of the day.

<div>I sought many medical specialists over the past 7 years in the hope to find out what it was in my body that was going wrong. It was April 2022 when I got diagnosed with stage 3 Lyme disease. This was a moment of hope and despair. Despair because stage 3 is the most severe stage. Lyme is in the nervous system, lungs, brain and heart. But also gives hope because Lyme can be treated. However, the cost for the current treatment is around €16.500. That's why this page is created, hoping that this site can help ease the burden of this expensive treatment. The ultimate goal is to go to a specialized Lyme clinic as in Germany, but the costs will be over €40.000. That’s why every donation, big and small, sharing this page and general well-wishes are greatly appreciated.
