If you have ever played music in the greater Los Angeles area then you know who Daniel Dismal is. Daniel Dismal has been and continues to be a mighty pillar of the Los Angeles underground music scene since 2000. He has been working persistently to keep us metal fans excited about bands coming through LA. From his work as the vocalist of Crematorium and ex- A&R for Century Media he has made a lot of friends within the world wide metal music community. Dan has booked some of the best metal bands from around the world and has given countless local bands the opportunity to play high profile gigs. Dan has had to fight tooth and nail to continue to find venues in a city that cares very little for live music. He has had to watch great venues get bought out and scramble to find new and welcoming venues.
Dan has never really done this for himself, he has done it for all of us. He wants to keep the scene alive and growing. He wants to see local bands have a place to play. He wants to be able to bring bands that never come to America and show them how many people appreciate their music. Dan Dismal has been a true soldier for all of us LA metal heads. He cares so much for the scene that he has fallen on some pretty hard time. He has allowed himself to go without for so long just to keep this scene going. Even when his personal life is falling apart around him, he will still be hosting amazing shows at a number of venues in the greater Los Angeles area.
Our friend Dan faces some very tough times ahead. Everyone knows how Uncle Sam loves to take a big wet bite out of our asses during tax time but he is looking to eat Dismal alive. Dan has racked up some serious tax debt all from helping the metal scene thrive. It is time that we help our brother out just like he has helped us out.
It’s understood that GoFundMe is usually used to donate to those who need help with medical bills, for Veteran charities, for housing charities and many other serious situations. It is also used to help certain individuals when there is no other options. My friend Dan is a proud man and isn’t interested in handouts but he has given more to us than we have ever given to him and I believe he deserves our help. Please don’t allow the stress from this situation to end the great things Daniel Dismal does for us. We are all part of this metal underground and we have a responsibility to help our friend.
The goal of this campaign is $15,000. That is a very large number but if every person who has ever played a show Dan has hosted, shared the stage, a beer or a laugh with Dan donated even $5, we could have that money raised in no time. That way our friend Dismal can get the tax man off his ass and we can continue to enjoy the music.
