I am reaching out to friends, family, and anyone kind enough to offer their support. My beautiful dog Dakota was just diagnosed with an ACL tear in her back right leg and requires urgent surgery to get it fixed. She has been limping and in pain for over a month, and after one vet said they could find nothing wrong (~$400), we were forced to seek out a second opinion ($1,037). The estimated cost of surgery is $4,010 and doesn't take into account the follow-up care she will need after surgery.

It has truly been heartbreaking to watch my once happy and active Dakota turn into a dog that limps with every step and can't extend her leg without pain. She is the kind of dog that always puts a smile on your face. Whether she is making herself comfortable on your lap (even though she is definitely too big), performing every trick she can think of to get a treat, wagging her tail so hard before a walk that her entire body wiggles, or excitedly howling as you return home. She is such a bright light in our lives, but now, because of this ACL tear, she can't do the things she loves.

Dakota's surgery is scheduled and we are going to make sure she can walk without pain again, but the cost of all this veterinary care is truly overwhelming. I am asking for your help.
