Help Dakota rebuild her home

Donation protected

Hi, My name is Kaelyn.

I started this GoFundMe page for my best friend, Dakota. Many of you know her. She is funny, adventurous, and kind. Here is, my version, of her story…

In December, my best friend found a house that she pictured to be her dream house, it is spacious, has an amazing yard, is right on Perkiomen Creek, and in a small very homey town, Skippack Pa. She fell in love and decided that with the right amount of work – she could really make this place her home, and home to her rescue pup Otis.

On Sunday, August 29, my best friend, and I shared an exciting phone call. She was finally able to sleep in the house after months of it being a construction zone!

When she bought the house, 3 ft of the walls were ripped out, no floors, with mold up to the attic. Dakota, her family, and friends worked every chance they could to make this house a home (unfortunately my main help was scrubbing mold :/). She paid to get the house lifted against floods and potential flood damage, knowing that it was a possibility. All this labor and renovating did not come cheap or easy but on that phone call it seemed SO worth it. She was so happy to finally be in this home.

Then, not even a week later, September 2nd, I got another call but this time in a panic. The storm from Hurricane Ida that passed through Pennsylvania on the 1st, had put her back to square 1. The water from the river had raised so high that they had to wait out storm and flood in the attic. The main floor of the house was under 2 ft of water. Her car was flipped over in the flooding. All the new cabinets, furniture, floors, everything - had to be ripped out of the house as soon as possible to dry out and salvage anything they could.

Dakota, her boyfriend, and Otis are displaced. They need to redo weeks’ worth of renovations to the house.

With a heavy heart for my best friend and her family, that I am asking for any donations that you can afford. The donations will likely go to the cost of replacing any water damage in the house; dry wall, insulation, furniture, and maybe dog care, or a temporary place to stay. If you know Dakota personally, Venmo works, reaching out to assist in manual labor, or even just sending her positive vibes – I’m sure would go a very long way.
