<div>Hello, my name is Sucely, and I’m a local pet portrait artist in the Compton area with strong ties to Long Beach as previous residents who are in love with the community. My husband and I share our lives with two beloved Maltipoos, Daisy and Lobo, who are both 10-year-old siblings.

<div>On September 20th, we learned Daisy has heart disease and would need to be on lifelong medication. We were saddened by the news, but we decided to focus on making her next few years as joyful and memorable as possible.
</div>

<div>The very next day, what was meant to be a happy outing in Belmont Shore turned into a nightmare. We were at Bark Bark making friendship bracelet collars for our dogs and as we were getting ready to leave, in a moment’s notice, Daisy slipped away from us and ran into oncoming traffic. We rushed after her, but she was struck by a car before we could reach her. It was one of the most traumatic moments of our lives.

<div>Daisy was rushed to the hospital, and while we feared the worst, the X-rays revealed she only suffered a broken right pelvis. Still, the situation was complicated by her existing heart condition. We faced agonizing decisions that night on whether to attempt repair, consider amputation, or even let her go peacefully if surgery was too risky.

<div>The following morning we were luckily able to get Daisy seen at Stitches in Long Beach. The surgeon gave us hope that her heart could handle anesthesia and that her leg could be repaired, so we moved forward. After hours of anxiously waiting, we finally got the call that Daisy had made it through surgery and was stable and recovering. We were so relieved she had made it.

<div>Now Daisy is on the road to recovery. Friends and loved ones have asked how they can help, so we decided to set this up as a way to support her care.
