Help Dadu Reeves Get a Life-Saving Kidney

Donation protected
Family and friends, this is an SOS call for Dadu Reeves. In 2019, Dadu suffered a mild stroke. Consequently, he was prescribed 8 different medications and a 24-hour pressure patch due to his elevated blood pressure. The nephrologist (kidney doctor) told him that his kidneys were declining. Dadu had asked what could reverse the course, if anything, but was told “nothing”, leaving his kidneys to fail by October 2020.

Considering that he did not have a donor, Dadu was encouraged to explore and pursue the opportunity of getting on the list for a possible kidney donation. However, getting on the list required him to do various tests as a pre-requisite to being placed on the waitlist, which did not discourage him from trying. However, these tests had to be scheduled by the hospital, and the scheduling was horrible in terms of timing. Ultimately, he completed 4 or 5 tests within a year, only to be told, by December, that all the tests done prior had expired. He was doing the same thing over and over without progress.

A friend later told him about the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he eventually scheduled an appointment in 2023 and was determined to have met the requirement for being on the list within 3 days. Dadu moved from Pennsylvania to Minnesota in March 2024 after he realized he had to be close to the hospital. As of yet, he has not been fortunate to get on a list. He was then informed about the opportunity of doing his surgery in India within three weeks once a donor became available to/for him. Dadu is blessed to find a family member who agreed to be a donor. However, the cost of travel, surgery, hospitalization, and recovery runs around $22,000.00; and Dadu has not been able to work for the last couple of years, leaving him to use his savings for survival expense.

Dadu has affiliated with the Calvary Baptist Church in East Orange NJ for the last 20 years. He previously served as the Director of Music for The Providence Baptist Church in Liberia prior to migrating to the USA. Whilst in Liberia, he also worked alongside other fellow organists, ministering through songs to the glory and honor of God. Here in the USA, Dadu usually serves as a substitute organist for different churches when needed. Regardless of his health issues, Dadu is always willing to travel around and help out in the community as an organist when asked by churches or families. "We Are More," the music community, family, and friends have come together to help Dadu with the cost of his travel and surgery expense. In the borrowed words of the songwriter, paraphrased, if we can help somebody, especially whilst they are alive, then our living will not be in vain. We are therefore seeking financial contributions to assist with this worthy cause.
