Help Cyrus get his life back ♡

On Wednesday June 21, 2017 Cyrus Stafford got ran over by a semi truck (were still trying to find out if it was a hit and run or not, so additionally, if you have any info on this accident, please let us know) in downtown Vancouver infront of Steamworks while on his bike. He was immediatly rushed to Vancouver General hospital emergency where he found out he had a shattered pelvis, a bunch of internal bleeding, a severed urethra aswell as a torn rectum.

At 3:30am he was taken into his first surgery where they thankfully were able to repair the rectum and the urethra and place something called an "x fix" which is essentially 2 titanium rods that cross to form an "x" across his hips and are screwed into his pelvis to keep it stable and help it heal properly. He had three amazing surgical teams working on him and thanks to their hard work, he will be able to go without a colostomy bag and will be able to live a relatively normal life again after a lot of physiotherapy to help him learn how to walk again.

At 8:30am, Wednesday June 28th, after much delay Cy was finally able to have his second pelvic surgery where they inserted a metal rod into his sacrum to keep his spine and pelvis stable.  He still has the x fix in, and will continue to for another 5-6 weeks when he'll have a 3rd surgery to have it removed.

Since the accident, Cy has been bed ridden for obvious reasons and will be stuck in hospital for another 6-8 weeks and will be unable to work for atleast 12-18 months. Even though we are only a week in to the accident , Cyrus has already made some amazing strides in his healing and has somehow managed to keep an incredibly positive attitude and is ready to kick this injury's ass.

Since the accident, he has received an amazing amount of support from his friends and family from all over the place which has definitely kept him going but I know that there is a lot of financial stress weighing on his brain as he still has 2 beautiful boys to to stay strong for. He will also have to move to a new, wheelchair accessible home when he is finally discharged from hospital as he is currently in a 3rd floor walk-up.

We will be sure to keep this page updated throughout his journey and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support on behalf of Cy. Despite how extensive his injuries are, in the end we are all just so thrilled he is alive, without head injury and will be able to walk again. Hes got a long road ahead of him and anything and everything helps, even just a quick share. ♡♡
