<div>My name is Cyan Hunter. I am a Black queer performance artist, dancer, and movement collaborator living in New York City. I work in the fitness industry, but my main passion and livelihood come from my work in the arts. At the beginning of August, I experienced a sudden health crisis—a fainting episode and seizure—that forced me to miss work and left me financially unstable. As someone whose career depends on physical health, this setback has made it extremely difficult to keep up with rent and basic necessities. I am now at risk of eviction and struggling to maintain stable housing, which is essential for my recovery and ability to work.

<div> I have a dance contract that extends into next year, and being able to stay in New York is crucial for fulfilling my professional commitments and continuing to perform in the dance community. Stable housing would allow me to focus on my well-being, return to work, and contribute to the city’s vibrant arts scene. I’ve always tried to handle challenges on my own, but this unexpected health issue has shown me that I need support to get back on my feet.
