Help Curtis Griggs Fight

It's hard to escape the news that opiate addiction is trying to grip people in our communities. I sat in a courtroom a couple of weeks ago and every case that came before the judge had something to do with drugs. I watched a young man be sent to prison, heard a story from a defendant about his brother losing his life to drug overdose, and watched a mom sob over her son’s case. The reality of the problem and its effects were emotional, raw, and stirring. Do you know what else I saw? I saw grace, mercy, and an opportunity for redeemed lives. The judge gave several of the people in court that day the opportunity to go to long term residential treatment. One of those cases, the one I was there for, Curtis Griggs, got an opportunity to change his life that day.

Curtis is a family friend and has struggled with substances much of his adult life. He is ready for a changed life. The day after that court day Curtis went to a long term residential treatment facility called, Teen Challenge of the Smokies. This facility will point Curtis to Jesus and help him work through some of the root causes that led him to abuse substances. They will also teach him how to cope, manage situations, and give him practical life skills.

Because this program is Christian based they do not take any government money or receive any support from government agencies or get reimbursed by insurance. That leaves the family to pay the bill. The total cost for his time in this program is $3,600. Now we have an opportunity. We have an opportunity to give towards Curtis' changed life and help him fight.
