Rachel Kennedy, age 32, Mum to Lewis &amp; Jude age 5 &amp; 4. On 23 November 2020 Rachel was diagnosed with cervical cancer, stage 3C2. There was a 4cm sized tumour and the surrounding lymph nodes were cancerous. This was devastating news however her oncology team advised that a treatment plan was to be put in place and they were treating to cure.  Rachel’s cancer was described as aggressive and unfortunately on 11 February 2021 Rachel was told her tumour had grown and spread to both her lungs. This is called secondary cancer. Tragically this meant that Rachel was restaged at 4b and her treatment plan was no longer to cure, but to prolong her life. A new treatment plan was discussed and should Rachel tolerate a gruelling round of chemo her life expectancy would be between 12-17 months.  As a family we are investing all our time and energy to support Rachel with this diagnosis whilst researching alternative treatments worldwide. Unfortunately these treatments are expensive so we have set this page up to help raise money to cover the cost of these treatments and research. Additionally we would like to use a proportion of this money for Rachel to treat her 2 wee boys to something special!  We are, as always endlessly grateful for all of your support and hope that you can help us find a cure for Rachel.  Rachel has been blogging her journey whilst creating awareness for cervical cancer. This has been so important to Rachel as there were some major red flags that were swept under the carpet which prevented her diagnosis being made a lot sooner. Rachel was persistent, she knows her body and emphasis the importance of this when seeking medical attention. A late diagnosis coupled with lengthy wait times to start treatment has resulted in a worsening condition which is now much more difficult to treat.
