Help Kim with her medical bills

Donation protected
Kim Maher is an amazing teacher and wonderful person who just last year, had to deal with the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer for the second time in her life. Thankfully, her most recent blood tests came back clean, but she is faced with a mountain of bills and  I'm hoping that we can all pitch in and help her cover some of her expenses. Here is her story:

A breast cancer diagnosis last year left me feeling devastated. First, you cry and then you build strength to overcome your illness. You look at your life and ask “why”? I have so much to live for and so much to give. I am a grandmother of four young grandchildren. Two of them live with me. Yes, I am a single grandmother raising a twelve-year-old boy, Dylan and a seven-year-old girl, Destiny. I love them with all my heart and soul and want to raise them to be happy, healthy and compassionate adults. Their mother (my daughter) suffers from bipolar disorder and is unable to raise them on her own. A genuine attempt to live all together was made. The challenge was too great. Living apart has allowed my grandchildren to love their mother from a distance. It has given us breathing space and time for Dylan and Destiny to grow and better understand bipolar disorder and the effect it can have on a family. Dylan has lived with me since he was five and destiny since she was ten months old.

I am a Montessori teacher and have been employed at a school that I love – Montessori Academy in Paradise Valley for eight years. My connection to the 3-6 year old children that I teach is a strong one. I love working with each and every unique child. Each day I look forward to going to work to see their smiling faces. They give me so much joy and inspiration. The staff consists of some of the most wonderful and talented educators I’ve ever met. My connection with them is strong and inspires me as well.

I am feeling well and want to pay off my medical debt, as well as continue to stay well. Please help me to achieve my goal of maintaining my health and becoming debt free so that I may focus all of my time and energy on my family and my job.

Much Gratitude,
Kim Maher
