Who are we raising money for?
FoldingCoin Inc . is a small nonprofit company that supports Stanford Medical University’s Protein Folding Project, Folding@Home , which uses idle computer time to find a cure for Cancer, Alzheimer's, and other terrible diseases that plague humanity.
Our founder had a vision that we all share – to marry the secure blockchain technology with computer-based research, to better the human condition. Together, we can all contribute to help the world be a better place, with the simple tools we use daily: our computers.
There’s no hidden agenda with FoldingCoin Inc. Our sole purpose is to spread the word on Stanford’s Folding@Home anyway we can to help drive up the contribution to the project.

Our Cause
According to estimates from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) , in 2018 there were 18.1 million new cancer cases and 9.6 million cancer deaths worldwide .
According to the Alzheimer’s Association , 5.7 million Americans alone are living with Alzheimer's in 2018.
In the last four years, FoldingCoin Inc. has more than doubled the amount of computing power being generated for the Folding@Home project, which has been active since 2000 and reached less than 1% of its original goal of 1,000,000 folders. We have proven that our approach and the value added by rewarding folders with FoldinCoin is taking us toward the goal originally set for the project.
The Stanford project is using Artificial Intelligence to analyze the data being collected from the fold contribution network. Artificial Intelligence becomes more accurate when you provide more data. Achieving our goal would mean accelerating the discovery of finding cures for these diseases.
FoldingCoin Inc. has been running off the original allotment of operational coin set aside when the company was funded. These coins are a limited supply and are reaching a point where the supply is not enough to keep the company going.
How will we use the funds generated by this campaign?
The money provided by this campaign will help keep the FoldingCoin Project running. It will fund the business to pay for employees, develop enhancements for the website and applications that will improve the ease of use to increase the folding base. Additionally, the funds will be used to create marketing and advertising campaigns to get the message of folding out to a broader base.
Today, it costs nearly $30,000 USD monthly to keep the project running, to ramp up the team and add the critical full-time members for marketing and community relations would increase the cost to $50,000 USD. The funding will be used to keep the minimum amount of full-time employees active.
Consider the number of users on social media today, over 3 billion users! If we could just compel 1% of those users to join the FoldingCoin project, we would have 30 times the original target number for the Folding@Home project! It is possible! There could be no greater cause than to strive for the elimination of these terrible diseases and the suffering they cause humanity – our loved ones, our friends, our co-workers. All can use your help.
Why does this cause mean so much to us?
I have personally been affected by both Alzheimer’s and Cancer in my life. I’ve seen the terrible ways that Alzheimer’s can affect people and how it affects their families. I have also struggled with family members suffering from Cancer at the same time, losing my sister after a two-year battle and luckily having my brother-in-law survive the same cancer after his two-year battle. Both struggled and suffered through their treatments daily, each resulting in vastly different outcomes.
These diseases change you. You feel helpless as your loved ones suffer through the extremely taxing treatments with no guarantees of success. The sickness, the daily struggles to keep fighting, the pain from the medications and surgeries. This research can help us find a better, more definite cure for these diseases.
I felt so compelled to help after the last few years that I changed my career to do this full time. I, along with the others on the FoldingCoin Inc. team, truly believe that we can succeed and that we can get enough contributors to beat these diseases in our lifetime.
Like myself, each member of our team has some personal connection with the diseases that this research is attempting to eliminate. Additionally, we all have a great desire to devote our time and energy into helping to improve the human condition by combining cutting edge technology with cutting edge research. We also believe in open projects that make the information available to everyone in hopes that we can find a cost-effective solution that can be made available to everyone that suffers from these diseases.
