Hi everyone! I am setting this page up to help my dear friend Shaleika and her daughter Penelope who are stuck in Puerto Rico. They just survived the scarriest hurricane and need our help.
We are working to get Penelope back here in TX with her dad until Shaleika can get things worked out. Since the island is devastated, work is difficult to predict, so for now we need to get Penelope a one way ticket here and a ticket for Shaleika to travel with her and assess things here to see if she can find work and ultimately go home to help out, and then come back.
We need to come up with a cushion for her to be able to support themselves until she finds work, and it would be extra amazing if we could chip in to help her family and neighbors in PR.
Although there are many families in PR suffering right now, and plenty of organizations you can contribute to, here is a great way to help someone directly, someone who I know well and love. We were worried sick until we heard from Shaleika today. Now we've got to act.
Shaken by the experience, you can imagine what its like to be a single mother trying to provide the safest way to help and save your family. Please consider helping out one of the most amazing women I have ever met.
