The 2020 Petrinja Earthquake occurred On 29 December 2020 at 12:20 PM CET (11:20 UTC), a strong earthquake, magnitude 6.4 Mw, 6.2 ML, struck approximately 3 km (1.8 mi) WSW of Petrinja, Croatia. The earthquake was felt throughout northern Croatia, as well as in large parts of Slovenia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Hungary and even Italy. Initial reports show many buildings destroyed in Petrinja. The maximum felt intensity was estimated at VIII (Heavily damaging) to IX ("Destructive") on the European macroseismic scale. The situation after the first earthquake is terrible. The center of Petrinja is completely destroyed, many buildings collapsed or seriously damaged, a hospital and a kindergarten also collapsed in Petrinja. All the other cities around the epicenter are also severely damaged, thousands of people will have to sleep outside their apartments and the situation is very serious even considering the winter temperatures that are approaching zero degrees with great probability of rain or snow in the next days.
I'm Italian, but I have many friends all over Croatia, help me to help them in this difficult time, also due to COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Please, donate what you can so that it can be sent to the site in the form of help to buy food, blankets, pay for accommodation, procure tents and beds, provide medicines, health care and anything else that can be useful after such a catastrophe.
Thank you very much. :)
