Help Save Grey: From the Streets to a Loving Home
Grey Deserves a Second Chance at Life
While in Cyprus in August 2024, I rescued Nutmeg and her kittens, plus a friendly stray I named Florence, planning to get the adults neutered and them all treated. But then I met Grey—a thin, sad, unneutered tomcat sitting under a poolside sunbed.
He was starving, so I fed him, set a trap, and to my surprise, he walked right in—trusting me completely.
The Heartbreaking Diagnosis
At the vet, a heart breaking situation struck. Grey was diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis)—a deadly disease. His chest and abdomen filled with fluid under the anesthetic, making breathing difficult. The vet said I had two choices:
❌ Put him back on the streets—where he’d suffer a slow, painful death.
❌ Euthanasia—to end his suffering humanely.
A Life Shouldn’t End Just Because of Money
Despite the overwhelming cost and challenges, I couldn’t give up on Grey. The vet offered a chance at life—a 3-month intensive treatment. It was expensive, but I chose to fight for him. It is only in recent years this has even been an option as before, FIP was a death sentence.
Grey has responded amazingly to treatment! But instead of 3 months, it took 6 months because of how ill he'd become, doubling the costs.
He also battled cat flu during treatment but fully recovered.
He has transformed from a frightened, sick cat into a loving, trusting boy.
Now He’s Ready to Fly – But He’s Stuck in a Cage in the Vet Clinic
✅ Six months of life-saving treatment—completed!
✅ Vaccines, microchip & passport—paid for!
❗️ Freedom Flight to the UK—ready on standby, awaiting payment!
❗ Remaining vet bills & last dental treatment—still unpaid.
Grey can’t leave until the remaining £1,500 is covered, so he’s just waiting in a cage at the clinic...
To date, I've personally covered well over £1,000 of his medical and boarding expenses, including the £80 of donations last year, for which I'm deeply grateful.
- Please see photos of some invoices and receipts, not including his initial operation and care which I also covered, February's and March's boarding fees and the outstanding dental work.
What We Still Need to Raise (£2000 total)
Remaining vet bills & boarding fees

His final journey home!
Grey Needs a Special Indoor Home
Grey can live happily indoors or in a secure, cat-proofed garden. Because of his past illness, stress or infections could weaken his immune system, so he must stay safe.
