Documentary films can take a lot of time to create, especially when you're dealing with a story that's 50+ years old. Many of those who were a part of Linda's journey are no longer with us and some are up in age and not always in the mood to film. However, we've had lots of cooperation from so many people who are extremely important to this story and want to support this project.
Due to the level of national attention this project is likely to receive, we've decided to invest more in its development, to ensure we deliver a quality story and film. That said, we are increasing our initial goal of $20,000 to $100,000. This increase in funds would be used to pay for legal matters regarding Linda's record contract, licensing for music and video use of material featuring Linda, that we do not own, post production and film distribution costs, film and storage equipment, travel expenses and additional costs related to the production of this project.
For reasons that will be further explained in the documentary, it is extremely important to us to be able to produce and create this film independently, and increasing our goal is an effort to maintain creative control and ensure that Linda stands to benefit from her contributions in a more tangible way. Linda's life story is the only intellectual property she owns and we believe that it is important to keep it that way.
We genuinely appreciate all the support we've received so far and we hope that you'll continue to spread the word of our efforts to help Linda Martell own her story.
We hope you enjoy the teaser.
