Hi everyone,
I'm reaching out with a heavy heart and a desperate plea for help on behalf of my friends, following their son Corey’s devastating accident on 30th July, while on holiday in Ibiza.
Corey (24) had only arrived in Ibiza that morning for a holiday with his friends, when he had a devastating swimming pool accident. He was rushed to the local hospital and admitted to intensive care with severe spinal injuries after hitting his head on the bottom of the pool.
Corey underwent an emergency operation to address his spinal cord injury, leading to the removal and replacement of his sixth vertebrae. Thankfully, the outcome has been positive in the first week, and he is now on the road to recovery in a hospital in Spain - he currently is currently immobile from the abdomen down, with limited movement in his hands and arms - so this is expected to be a slow process, involving extensive physiotherapy and treatment.
Corey's parents, my darling friend Sandi and her husband Matt, and Corey's dad, Tim, are all over there to support their son through the most difficult time of their lives.
Sandi says "Unfortunately, staying in Ibiza long-term is incredibly expensive and it's taking a huge financial toll. It will be a struggle to keep this up for the time it seems that we'll need to be here before Corey can return to the UK, and beyond, when he's going to need continued support whilst he slowly recovers, as well as specialist equipment and adaptions to the house."
On the family's behalf, I'm asking for help to cover accommodation near the hospital, transport, and basic living costs while Sandi, Matt and Tim stay with Corey. Any amount, no matter how small, would make a massive difference and help them to focus entirely on what matters most — being there for their son.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please share if you can, and thank you so much from me, on behalf of Corey, Sandi, Matt,Toni, and Corey's brothers Jack and Fin.xx
