<div>Did you know all-natural fibers such as wool from sheep, alpacas, and mohair goats have to be washed before they can be made into yarn, batting or other products?

<div>Did you know that the Northeast US has a large (and growing) network of sustainable natural fiber farms?

<div>Did you know the closest commercial scouring (wool washing) facility is in South Carolina - more than 700 miles away?

<div>The Hudson Valley Textile Project, Inc. (HVTP) is asking for your help. Our local farm-to-fashion community is growing. The greatest barrier to industry expansion in the region is cleaning natural fibers to be made into yarn, roving and other products. HVTP is raising money to match funds received through a FuzeHub Manufacturing Grant, and funds pledged by the Empire Sheep Producers Association, to purchase new technologically-advanced, energy-saving fiber scouring equipment; and to establish a new stand-alone scouring facility.

<div>The scouring facility will create manufacturing jobs, support our local farms, and provide natural materials to be used by local artisans and makers. Once operational, the scouring line with be self-supporting financially and have a far-reaching impact in rural economies. <div>We now have a challenge from one of our long-time member, Sara Bauer from <a href="https://www.yarnsatyinhoo.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Yarns at Yinhoo podcast</a>, who is fighting cancer. <strong>She asks that we show her our love and support by making a donation of at least $50. </strong>Funds will specifically go toward installing the electrical transformer we need to run. some of the new machines. Once again, Sara proves to be an industry transformer! Donors will be recognized with a small felt shape, embroidered with their name, and added to a garland that is adorning Sara's space.
