You can make a difference by donating today to Free Medical Clinic of Aiken County (Community Medical Clinic of Aiken County, Inc). We are more than a band-aid for our patients. You donations will support our patient services and provide "Hope and a Hand up" to the underserved in our community.

The Community Medical Clinic of Aiken County (CMCAC) is dedicated to improving the quality of life of impoverished, uninsured residents and the working poor of Aiken County by providing ongoing healthcare and guidance in a professional setting. Here is a little background on my organization. The Free Medical Clinic of Aiken County was formed to serve those in need of healthcare in 1988 and started doing business as CMCAC in 2007. We provide a medical home for Aiken County residents that are uninsured and low income. Our patients receive free medical care, medications, diagnostic and radiology testing. We also work hard to support our patients to become productive and healthier citizens. CMCAC started as a means to provide healthcare to those not insured or covered by Medicaid or Medicare (19-64). These were basically the working poor who either had no regular job or a job without benefits. This group was already somewhat self-selected in that by and large they were adults that worked and cared enough about their health to seek continuing medical care. These were responsible people. At some point we asked the question why didn’t these people have work or benefits? We looked upstream – upstream was training and education. The result was the development of a program to help these people find job placement through training and education. The results of this endeavor led to the development of the R.I.S.E. (Real Independence Self-Empowerment) program in which we more aggressively pursue job counseling, training and placement. This has been very successful and has resulted in graduating and actually losing these patients to jobs with benefits. What we’ve also seen is that by creating meaningful jobs for those graduates the benefits have trickled down to their children who now look upstream and experience a more positive home environment with stability, pride and role modeling. By looking upstream, you can create very positive things downstream. Our clinic is unique among many medical and free clinics because we actually treat the whole person and look at how outside influences are affecting their personal health. Last year during a pandemic, we helped 65 Aiken County residents get a full-time job with benefits. In 2019, we helped 104 patients do the same thing. We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of our patient's journey. We are changing and saving lives every day.
