Commander End of Life Care
Commander Update: I’m writing this through agonizing tears; it’s been a rough 24 hours, a rough few days, weeks, and months. Every time we think we’ve got him on an upswing, he declines. I’m exhausted and heartbroken for him and today we received some worst case scenario news.
Commander was seen at the vet for swelling in his abdomen and reduced appetite. A mass the size of a grapefruit was discovered after X-rays and ultrasound, but it is unknown exactly what is taking over his body. His bloodwork was extremely concerning, to the point that his Vet doesn’t have confidence that he would make it through exploratory surgery. He’s rapidly declining and now all we can do is keep him comfortable and monitor his quality of life closely before making an incredibly difficult decision for our golden boy. Anything to help us ease his pain and give him supportive end of life care is appreciated during this difficult time. Thank you for being a part of his rescue and health journey over the last two years.
