Help Comfort Dog Brooke
Brooke is a fourteen month old long haired German Shepherd Dog. She is a member of the Working Dogs Oregon Foundation Raising Heroes Puppy Program. She is in the final stages of training before she is placed with a law enforcement agency as a Police Wellness-Comfort-Therapy-Dog.
Today Brooke began displaying symptoms similar to what a dog with severe neurological issues would have. She was rushed to the vet and within 30 minutes she was under the care of a veterinary Doctor.
while in the care of the vet, Brookes heart rate began to plummet. By the time Brooke had IV fluids added to her care her heart rate was hovering around 50 beats per minute. She had a low of 34 BPM which is dreadfully low. medication was added to assist her in stabylizing her heart rate up to 74. not ideal but enough that she could be transported to the emergency vet where she is now under observation.
Blood work has ruled out poison. Thoughts of epilepsy, heart failure, even brain tumor has been suggested. Nothing has been ruled out.
Brooke has been training in Old Town Portland where street life and night clubs have adopted her as their own. Brooke is making a difference in peoples lives even before her being donated to law enforcement, where she will interact with thousands of citizens making their lives better during crisis. When bad things happen its our mission to have a dog like Brooke be deployed, at times bringing the only glimmer of hope to someones darkest experiences.
Costs are rising quickly for Brookes care and we need your support. if you cannot donate please consider sharing!
Thankyou,
The Working Dogs Oregon Pack!
