Help Colombian Peacebuilder Recover
Cristina Serna is the President of the Peasant Workers Association of the Carare River (ATCC), one of Colombia’s earliest local peace organizations. She came to the U.S. in April 2018 for the first time to share her and her community's story about preventing atrocities with policymakers and NGOs in Washington, D.C. with support of the non-profit, Peace Direct. Upon returning to Colombia, she suffered a severe stroke coming off the plane and has been in critical condition while recovering in the hospital since then. Her friends and family have had to take time off of work to be with her during this difficult time.
We hope this campaign will help provide financial support for her and her friends and family during the recovery process. Anything you are able to contribute, no matter how small, is a great help. We have set an initial goal of $3,000 based on an estimate of initial needs. Additional funds will help her in her longer-term recovery and may help the ATCC fund educational programs in Cristina's honor as part of their collective reparations process.

Cristina Serna es la Presidenta de la Asociación de Trabajadores Campesinos del Carare (ATCC), uno de las organizaciones locales de paz más tempranas de Colombia. Ella vino a los EEUU en Abril de 2018 por la primera vez para compartir su historia y la de su comunidad sobre la prevención de atrocidades con funcionarios y ONG en Washington D.C., con a el aopoyo del ONG, Peace Direct. En su regreso a Colombia, sufrió un thrombosis cerebral sévero bajando del avión y ha estado en condición crítica desde ese momento mientras recuperándose en el hospital. Sus amigos y familia han tenido que tomar tiempo fuera del trabajo para estar con ella durante este periodo difícil.
Esperamos que esta campaña ayudará a proveer apoyo financiero a ella y sus amigos y familia durante el proceso de recuperación. Cualquier suma que usted puede contribuir, no importa si grande o pequeño, es un gran aporte. Hemos puesto una meta inicial de $3,000 USD (~9.000.000 COP) basado en una estimación de sus necesidades iniciales.
