<div>My brother Cody was an innocent bystander in a tragic shooting at Hayley’s Bar in downtown Mobile, AL late Sunday night, October 20, 2024. A man attempted to shoot someone else, but Cody was the one hit, leaving him with life-threatening injuries. Cody has already endured two major surgeries. About a foot and a half of his large and small intestines each had to be removed, his iliac vein was severely damaged and had to be tied off, and unfortunately, the bullet couldn’t be removed. He spent the first 24 hours on a ventilator waiting for his second surgery, but despite everything, he’s shown incredible strength. He’s even taken a few steps and is being moved out of the ICU soon.

<div>I know this GoFundMe will only scratch the surface of what his medical bills will be, but <strong>we’re hoping it can help get him through the next few months as we try to figure out what’s next.</strong> Cody doesn’t have insurance, and we don’t know when or if he’ll be able to return to work. On top of that, he’s still in a critical window for infection or sepsis, which can show up between days 5 to 10 of recovery, and today is only day 4.
