My 15 year old daughter, Corin (‘Coco’), is your normal teenage girl. Friends, sports, learner’s permits, giving her siblings a hard time. Over the last two weeks, her life has been turned upside down. A chest pain turned into enlarged lymph nodes and ended up with us in the oncology clinic of Children’s Dallas. In the week since then, she has had a biopsy done, a chemo port put in, ALL the bloodwork, PET scans, CT scans and an echo.
Today we received her official diagnosis...Stage IIA Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It sounds scary and is, but HL is highly treatable and her prognosis is good.
She also started her chemo treatment this afternoon. She will have 4 rounds of treatment over 5 months and will do homebound studies the rest of her freshman year. We are so lucky to be receiving amazing care and coordination at Children’s Dallas. Doctors, nurses and teachers have all been amazing.
I will post updates on Corin’s progress here. We should be in a pretty good routine for the next two months, counting down to scans to see how the atypical cells respond to the chemo.
