Help Coco get her operation

In January 2021 Ipswich Basketball Club Senior Women’s point guard Colleen ‘Coco’ Leung suffered a severe and potentially career threatening knee injury in a game against Reading Rockets. Driving to the basket, Coco’s leg bucked under her and she fell to the floor with a shriek. We later found out she had torn both her ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) and MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament)… One of these injuries alone is catastrophic enough, but the two together are devastating.

An NHS surgeon told Coco it was unlikely she would ever play the sport she loves again, but in consultation with a private surgeon, through IBC’s physiotherapy partners at SportsMed East, Coco has been given hope that surgery will give her a good chance of recovery. But this will involve a complete knee reconstruction.

Unfortunately private surgery like this does not come cheap. As Coco does not have insurance to cover such injuries, IBC have been able to raise some of the money for the procedure, but we are still £3000 short. Please consider donating so that she may recover back to her active and happy lifestyle.

Coco lives for basketball and as a Senior Women’s team, we would like love to support her getting back to her passion. Her support and experience helped us achieve our goals this past season, even after she was injured, now it’s our turn to pay her back.

We need to secure these funds so Coco can have the operation before she has to return home, to give her the best possible chance of rehabilitating to the point of being able to play again. We sincerely hope the British Basketball community and the wider family will support us in this endeavour. It will mean the world to Coco, and to us.
