I’m raising funds for Clay and Steel, my blacksmithing business. For some time, we were incredibly lucky to have use of a power hammer on loan from Reed Peck-Kris of Redwood Forge. Reed is moving on from a position at Pratt Art Institute and into an industrial space of their own, so we are returning the hammer with real gratitude for the time we had it. At the same time, this has left us with an urgent need. The power hammer is essential to the architectural work we create in the shop, and it is a critical part of how we make our living. Without it, continuing our work in the way we need to becomes extremely difficult.

I have found a lightly used SayMak power hammer available for $10,000 at a very generous price from Roy Holmberg, who wants to see it go to good use. The funds from this fundraiser will help cover the purchase of the hammer, along with the shipping and installation costs needed to get it into the shop and running. If there are any extra funds raised, they will go toward shop maintenance and refurbishing our current equipment. If you’re able to support Clay and Steel, any help would mean so much to us. Your support will help us replace this essential tool, keep the shop working, and continue building the pieces that sustain our livelihood.

Help Clay and Steel Replace Our Hammer

Still $10,500 to go. Help us build momentum.
