<div>I just turned <strong>34 years old, </strong>and instead of celebrating life, I’m <strong>fighting </strong>for it.

<div>Right after my birthday on December 19( a month ago) , I was diagnosed with <strong>stage 3 head and neck tongue cancer</strong>. Since then, everything has changed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The cancer has spread to the lymph nodes in my neck, causing severe swelling and constant pain. Eating and swallowing became so difficult that <strong>I’ve lost 42 pounds and counting</strong>. I recently had to get a feeding tube just to receive the nutrition my body needs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On January 14, I was admitted to the hospital because the pain became too much to manage at home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And now I’m facing a major, life-changing surgery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Doctors will have to remove half of my tongue to remove the cancer.</strong> They will <strong>take tissue from my leg or arm to reconstruct it, and my neck will be dissected to remove the affected lymph nodes.</strong> I will have a tracheostomy tube to help me breathe for at least five days, and I’ll be hospitalized for about two weeks.

<div>After that, I’ll begin speech and swallowing therapy, followed by radiation and chemotherapy.
</div>

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One of my <strong>biggest fears is not being able to speak or communicate</strong> the same way again. My tongue is already so swollen that people struggle to understand me, and it hurts just to talk. The thought of how hard it may be after surgery is heartbreaking — especially as a <strong>mom</strong>.

</div>

</div>
<div>Because more than anything, I want to be here for my children.
</div>

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have a <strong>1-year-old</strong> baby and a<strong> 13-year-old,</strong> and they are my whole world. They are the reason I keep fighting every single day, even when I’m scared and exhausted.
</div>

</div>
<div>Between hospital stays, surgery, treatments, feeding tube supplies, and time away from work, the financial burden is overwhelming. Right now, my focus needs to be on surviving, healing, and being there for my kids — not worrying about bills.

<div>Acabo de cumplir 34 años y, en lugar de estar celebrando la vida, estoy luchando por ella.

<div>Justo después de mi cumpleaños el 19 de diciembre (hace un mes), me diagnosticaron cáncer de lengua de cabeza y cuello en etapa 3. Desde entonces, todo ha cambiado.

<div>El cáncer se ha extendido a los ganglios linfáticos de mi cuello, causando una inflamación severa y dolor constante. Comer y tragar se volvió tan difícil que he perdido 42 libras y sigo perdiendo. Recientemente tuve que colocarme un tubo de alimentación para poder recibir la nutrición que mi cuerpo necesita.

<div>El 14 de enero fui ingresada al hospital porque el dolor se volvió demasiado fuerte para manejarlo en casa.
</div>

</div>
<div>Y ahora enfrento una cirugía mayor que cambiará mi vida.

<div>Los médicos tendrán que remover la mitad de mi lengua para eliminar el cáncer. Tomarán tejido de mi pierna o brazo para reconstruirla, y realizarán una disección de cuello para remover los ganglios afectados. Tendré una traqueostomía para ayudarme a respirar durante al menos cinco días, y estaré hospitalizada aproximadamente dos semanas.

<div>Después de eso, comenzaré terapia del habla y de deglución, seguida de radiación y quimioterapia.
</div>

<div>Uno de mis mayores temores es no poder hablar o comunicarme de la misma manera otra vez. Mi lengua ya está tan inflamada que a las personas les cuesta entenderme, y hablar me duele. Pensar en lo difícil que podría ser después de la cirugía es desgarrador — especialmente como mamá.

<div>Porque más que nada, quiero estar aquí para mis hijos.

<div>Tengo un bebé de 1 año y un hijo/a de 13 años, y ellos son todo mi mundo. Son la razón por la que sigo luchando cada día, incluso cuando tengo miedo y estoy agotada.
</div>

<div>Entre hospitalizaciones, cirugía, tratamientos, suministros del tubo de alimentación y el tiempo sin poder trabajar, la carga financiera es abrumadora. En este momento, mi enfoque debe estar en sobrevivir, sanar y estar presente para mis hijos — no en cómo pagar las cuentas.
