Help Claire Walk

Hello, my name is Stephanie, and I am the mom to a beautiful daughter with Cerebral Palsy, Claire.

Claire suffered lack of oxygen at birth, resulting in severe Cerebral Palsy which affects all her extremities. She is a fierce 6 year old, who will be attending grade 1 in the fall. She loves to race, go biking, hiking, and play with her friends and family. Unfortunately, Claire needs help with of those things. She is in a wheelchair, and is 100% dependant on her family for all of her needs.

We learned about Trexo a little over a year ago. Trexo is a robotic computer which hooks on to her walker, and allows her to walk… independently . It’s incredible! To watch Claire walk, to smile SO big and look at her peers at eye level is so heart warming. To go for a walk around the block, and hold her hand, gives me emotions that I can’t even express. After 6 years, I never thought I would be given that opportunity, and now we have it. Now we walk hand and hand every morning as we go around the block.

Unfortunately, Trexo is more expensive than we can afford on our own. We have rented it to try it, and have fallen in love with it. Claire has fallen in love with having the ability to walk. Technology like Trexo is not covered by insurance, and all costs are 100% out of pocket. Having a child with special needs is expensive. It’s so hard to pick and chose what we can get her, what therapies we can put her in. We have spent so many sleepless nights making life changing decisions in hopes of giving Claire the best life we can. Walking is one of those decisions.

And so here we are trying to make this wish come true for Claire and our family.
