Up to 60% of physical donations given to disaster relief efforts cannot be used. How do you find out what items are needed and where you can take them?
Thousands of volunteers want to help in the wake of a disaster. How do you know where volunteers are needed?
There is no centralized place for this information. Currently, information resides in Google sheets, Instagram, and group chats. Disorganization, excess, and unneeded items leaves a burden with disaster relief volunteers.
As a nonprofit, Civica wants to eliminate these problems with a technology platform to centrally list needed relief items, volunteer opportunities, and disaster relief centers.
Help us optimize your generosity and centralize disaster relief efforts!
Our current prototype was built entirely with AI here https://civica-v0.lovable.app/
We have taken this about as far as it can get with AI and we need to hire engineers to build mobile apps and fully build out the basic functionality.
About the founder: Bill Frantz has a background in consulting, technology, and logistics. He has helped build technology and optimize operations at various companies. While working with the Red Cross during the Los Angeles fires, he heard about the large scale challenges with disaster relief efforts, especially with dealing with large amounts of physical donations. After talking and working with many organizations in LA and Western North Carolina dealing with hurricane Helene, the idea behind Civica emerged.
