My mom, Leigh, is a kindergarten teacher and throughout her years of teaching, I have been able to meet many wonderful students. But on the first day of school in 2014 my mom got a student who changed my life.
His name is Christian Mow and he is now 8 years old. He is the sweetest, funniest, most energetic little boy I have ever met. He makes friends with literally everyone that he meets, loves playing with his two big brothers and his sister, and lights up a room with his sweet and loud laugh. Christian loves sports and loves playing.
But Christian suffers from cerebral palsy. He is unable to walk without the aid of his walker and struggles to accomplish many daily tasks.
Recently, Christian went to the doctor and got LIFE CHANGING news - he was the perfect candidate for the Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery. He is going to be having the surgery at Vanderbuilt, and will be going through months and months of extensive physical therapy, BUT the end result is that Christian will have a 99% chance of walking.
Christian has told me over and over "I'm going to walk without my walker!! I am going to run!! I'm going to play on the playground with my friends!!'
SDR surgery is very expensive and the trips to and from the hospital and the physical therapy appointments are going to be a massive financial burden on Christian's family. The surgery will be taking place sometime this month, depending on the doctor's schedule. I am trying to make sure that Christian's health does not put any financial stress on his family.
The donations will go to helping with medical bills, physical therapy, trips to the hospital, and anything else that arises that Christian might need.
