On February 10, 2025, we had to make the hardest decision of our life. Just shy of her 11th birthday, our baby girl Mellon got very sick. It happened overnight, and as much as we tried, we could not help her. Mellon was a warrior and the sweetest girl you could ever know. She had a large cancer tumor removed a year and a half ago and barely even acted sick. We love our dogs as much as people do human children and are so thankful we had the extra time with our precious girl. She was our guardian and protector. She loved treats and running through the field near our house. She chased bunnies but never hurt them, and there wasn't a river or creek she wouldn't jump in.

Starting my own business last year was a risk and put us in a vulnerable position financially. Mellon's original surgery was over $6000 and the last two weeks added another $4400 to that. We do not regret it for a second, but it was a big cost we weren't expecting.
